Easy Thanksgiving Treats for Pets

Easy Thanksgiving Treats for Pets

Here at Prana Pets we consider our pets to be a part of our family, and that means including them in special celebrations like Thanksgiving dinner! While not all traditional Thanksgiving foods are safe for our precious pets, we decided to come up with two simple and easy recipes that will make them feel extra thankful!

Here are two pet-friendly Thanksgiving recipes, one for dogs and one for cats:

For Dogs: Turkey and Sweet Potato Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked turkey, diced
  • 1/2 cup cooked sweet potatoes, mashed
  • 1/4 cup green beans, steamed and chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced turkey, mashed sweet potatoes, chopped green beans, and the egg. Mix well.

  3. Scoop small portions of the mixture and form them into bite-sized balls.

  4. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and lightly brush them with olive oil.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until they're lightly browned and firm.

  6. Allow the bites to cool, and then serve them as a special Thanksgiving treat for your furry friend!

For Cats: Pumpkin and Tuna Delight

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 tablespoons canned tuna in water, drained
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the canned pumpkin, drained tuna, and the egg until well combined.

  2. Scoop small portions of the mixture onto a plate or into a mold to create small servings.

  3. Refrigerate the portions for about an hour to allow them to firm up.

  4. Serve this delightful pumpkin and tuna treat to your feline friend as a special Thanksgiving snack. Cats often enjoy this combination of flavors!

Both of these recipes are designed to be safe and enjoyable for your pets, but as with any new food, it's essential to monitor your pet's response and ensure they don't have any allergies or sensitivities to the ingredients. Enjoy a wonderful and pet-friendly Thanksgiving with your furry family members!
