It’s gotten to the point where we all know someone close to us who had a brush with Cancer. What many people do not know is that cats and dogs are being diagnosed with cancer at an alarming rate with over 12 million diagnoses a year and how many have not been diagnosed?
Here are 4 CANCER Prevention tips for Pets
1)Use natural non- chemical insecticides on your lawn and do not allow your dog to eat grass in dog parks or outside lawns. If your dog or cat walks on grass with insecticides then licks their paws after they are ingesting toxins. Wash their paw pads after walks and if your pet is craving greens have a nutritious wheatgrass plant at home for them to snack on.
Cancer Study In one study, dogs with cancer were over 100% percent more likely to come from homes where chemical insecticides were applied to their lawn.
2)Avoid using chemical household cleaners in the home. Use vinegar and water or natural household cleaners.
According to the American Lung Association, “many cleaning supplies or household products can irritate the eyes or throat, or cause headaches and other health problems, including cancer. Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Other harmful ingredients include ammonia and bleach.”
Have you Ever Considered This?
When your dog or cat walks across a freshly cleaned floor that has been cleaned with chemicals and then licks their paws, they are ingesting poison.
3) Spay your female dog. A dog that is spayed prior to her first heat is 2000 times less likely to develop mammary cancer. Neuter your male dog as they will have zero chance of contracting testicular cancer. By Spaying & Neutering, you are also helping to control the pet population and reducing aggression.
4) Feed your dog and cat Human Grade, cooked, freeze-dried, dehydrated or raw food. There are healthy fresh food companies like The Farmers Dog, Petplate & My Ollie which cook delicious meals in commercial kitchens.
For store-bought pet foods, there are great dehydrated and frozen foods like Stella & Chewy, Honest Kitchen, Grandma Lucy’s, Fresh Pet and Raw foods like Primal (Being under a Veterinarians supervision is recommended when feeding raw food)
The Truth About Kibble
Nearly every pet food on the market contains aflatoxins which is basically, mold. Grains such as corn, wheat, and rice, as well as nuts and legumes, are often contaminated with these potential cancer-causing molds.
If you feed kibble, it might be a challenge to avoid Pentobarbital, an animal euthanization agent found in trace amounts in many kibble dog foods. Imagine feeding your dog a small daily dose of Pentobarbital over their lifetime?
Delicious, Healthy Cancer Prevention Snacks
There are glorious, delicious, healthy foods out there that contain cancer-fighting antioxidants like, broccoli, spinach, green beans, melons, blueberries and apples (no pits they are poisonous).
